The Power of Parenting: How to Help Your Child After the Death of a Sibling from Substance Use or Overdose

The FITT team is pleased to announce the release of a new resource: The Power of Parenting: How to Help Your Child After the Death of a Sibling from Substance Use or Overdose.

It is the next in a series called the "Power of Parenting" and was designed to help parents and caregivers support children surviving the death of a sibling due to substance use or overdose.

FITT staff collaborated on this resource with NCTSN’s Bereavement Workgroup. It includes information on helping children cope with stigma and shame associated with an overdose, understanding the range of reactions that family members may experience, coping with the impact of substance use on the family, and prioritizing self-care and support for the parents or caregivers.
